As a family, we have often had boating holidays on canals in the UK.

Recently my eldest daughter and I have joined the Buckingham Canal Society who are working to restore the canal in Buckingham.

May 2009	in between updating the councillors, we are now looking at updating the mapping and state of the assets ourselves in order to expedite the feasibility study for restoration
Mar 2009	Still aiming to keep the Town, District and County councils updated on the work of the canal. Currently trying to arrange suitable dates for an update forum and engagement with the various local authorities. Aiming to do this 3 times a year or so.
Feb 2009	The environment agency have agreed to support the canal restoration in providing information but are 'unable' to help financially. They also do not feel that the canal is the best solution to flooding as the water would still need to move through Buckingham.
Jan 2009	I am working with the Buckingham County Council Local Area Forum (BCC -LAF) to look at the use of the canal as a flood relief reservoir and hence undertake some of its restoration to alleviate flooding in Buckingham A copy of the pdf version of the presentation can be downloaded here
